Australian cricketer Marnus Labuschagne announced on Monday that he is retiring the bat he used in the ODI World Cup 2023 final against India.

 Labuschagne was instrumental in Australia's victory, scoring an unbeaten 58 off 110 balls, and forming a crucial 192-run partnership with Travis Head, which led to Australia clinching their sixth World Cup title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Labuschagne shared the news on Instagram, posting photos of the worn-out bat. He captioned the images, "Think it’s finally time to retire the World Cup final bat.

Travis Head's century and Marnus Labuschagne's crucial unbeaten 58 propelled Australia to a record-breaking sixth World Cup title with a six-wicket victory over India in the ODI World Cup 2023 final.

Led by Pat Cummins, Australia claimed the prestigious title on November 19, 2023, adding to their previous victories in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015.

After bowling out India for 240, Australia chased down the target in 43 overs, thanks to a decisive fourth-wicket partnership.
