Update on CrowdStrike Falcon Content Issue for Windows Hosts

CrowdStrike is addressing the impact of a defect found in a recent content update for Windows hosts. This issue, not affecting Mac or Linux hosts and unrelated to a cyberattack, caused crashes and disruptions.

Issue Identification and Resolution

The defect has been identified, isolated, and fixed. Affected customers are advised to refer to the support portal for updates. It's essential to communicate with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels for accurate information.

We deeply regret the inconvenience and disruption caused. We are working diligently to restore affected systems and ensure customers can resume normal operations. This issue does not impact the Falcon platform systems, and there is no effect on protection if the Falcon Sensor is installed.

• Symptoms: Crashes and blue screen errors related to the Falcon Sensor.
• Unimpacted Systems: Windows hosts not affected can remain operational. Hosts running Windows 7/2008 R2 and those brought online after 0527 UTC are also unaffected. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted.
• Current Action: The problematic channel file has been reverted. If hosts are still experiencing issues, the following steps can help:
  • Individual Hosts: Reboot and, if necessary, delete the problematic file in Safe Mode or Recovery Environment.
  • Public Cloud/Virtual Environments: Detach and fix the operating system disk volume or roll back to a snapshot before 0409 UTC.
